Plants are a valuable contribution to our office and work environment. In recent months, however, our Office of Environmental Safety has received multiple reports and complaints of plant-borne infestations. And in a recent tour of office spaces, the Office of Environmental Safety noted several plants needing care or maintenance. Plant infestation – a safety violation - was observed in several instances.
Here are a few things you can do to maintain a healthy, green environment:

In recent months, however, our Office of Environmental Safety has received multiple reports and complaints of plant-borne infestations. Here are a few things you can do to maintain a healthy, green environment:
- Minimize the number of plants in your work space. A general recommendation is no more than two plants per individual office.
- Keep low-maintenance plants – those plants requiring little water or care.
- Be careful not to over water your plants. Office plants usually have less need for watering since light levels, low humidity and moderate temperatures are constant.
- Make it a point to check the health of your plants on a regular basis. Employees who keep plants in their offices are solely responsible for their care and maintenance.
